Most of the animal ambassadors of Echoes Of Nature come from rescues
and shelters. They are typically unwanted pets or animals collected
from the wild by people. Before acquiring a pet, PLEASE do your homework
first. You need to know not only about the animal, but also the laws in
your area. They are living creatures and when in your care all of their
needs for survival must come from you! Remember, as humans it is up to
us to care for the creatures of this beautiful planet.

Listed here are only some of the local organizations which are dedicated to caring
for a variety of animals. Many of them have animals which are up for
adoption; however what is available will vary with time. There is
no particular order to this list.
MARS Reptile and Amphibian Rescue.
Many of our snakes, lizards and turtles come from this organization
which is located in Baltimore county. We have had a wonderful relationship
with them since we started Echoes Of Nature. They have a large variety of
animals that are up for adoption. Check them out at
Mid-Atlantic Turtle & Tortoise Society
If you are looking for a companion who is hard on the outside but lovable
on the inside why not consider a turtle? There are always animals up for
adoption and MATTS specializes in turtles and tortoises. Check out these
armored survivors at
Bunny Magic.
Bunny Magic is a non-profit organization offering sanctuary to companion
indoor rabbits. Their mission is to find quality indoor homes where
rescued and abandoned animals can live with the love of an adoptive family.
Learn more about them at
Rude Ranch
If you are interested in a cat there are many feline shelters out there.
We adopted our latest cat (not a program animal by the way) from Rude Ranch.
They are a non-profit no kill shelter dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected
and abused animals. Visit them at
Petfinder.com.
Of course there is also Petfinder.com for a more complete list of shelters
from across the nation. They provide a list of available animals cateloged by type.
Note: The images used here come from the Echoes Of Nature photo archive
and are not specific animals available for adoption at any of these shelters.
